At some point in life people will either accept Jesus or reject him. It’s that plain and simple. The cross makes people confrontational. Sadly people have been doing it for thousands of years. Some of these people are our closest family members which makes this question all that more real. So lets start with finding an answer to the title…was Jesus really God himself living here on earth or was Jesus just a madman roaming the earth?
First, let’s take a look at who Jesus claimed to be.
- The Son of God
- The Redeemer
- The Savior
- The Great I Am
- The Great Physician
- The Lamb
- The Messaiah (Who was foretold by the Old Testament)
- Sinless, until he took on the sins of the world
- The son of Mary and Joseph
Next there is the assumption that Jesus was just a regular man who some people claim as being a lunatic. You can find many different meanings behind what a lunatic looks like. All point to someone who is acting out of foolishness and not mentally stable.
So I would like to ask you if Jesus really was mentally deranged how would it be possible for him to show:
- The power to heal others.
- The authority to raise people from the dead.
- How would it be possible for Jesus to gain disciples or followers if he was just crazy?
- If he was truly crazy people would recognize his foolish behavior and turn the other way.
At the same time speaking about his Father in Heaven and healing people while discipling others to follow his steps and to focus their eyes on God. Jesus was not alive to bring attention to himself but to glorify His Father.
A lunatic is not capable of acting in this way.
A lunatic is someone who is focused on themselves and their own experiences in life.
A lunatic is someone who would not go to the extensive process of rejection, torture, and death.
A lunatic is fueled by pride and if his life ended that pride would also die with him. All these points are just brushing the surface of who Jesus is not.
If you are not sure who Jesus is I suggest you look at who he claimed to be and line that up with the things he did. There you will find the true character of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior.
Have any comments or questions?? I’d love to hear them.
