This film is a story we all can relate to!
The overall message is about finding your life purpose. It’s a universal question and this film portrays how one man, Victor, finds his answer.
Victor is originally from a small town in the South. Although now in his 30’s he longs to find his purpose in life and is frustrated that it just hasn’t happened yet.
When he was younger Victor left his hometown and headed for Los Angeles, California in order to make something of himself. He thought leaving this small town meant that he could be somebody. However, a series of bad events leads Victor down a path he didn’t expect. He ends up losing everything from his high end condo, laptop, and even his van that he was eventually living in. As timely as the Lord is and as this story plays out a family friend calls Victor and invites him back home.
Upon his arrival back home his family and friends who live in a trailer park warmly greet Victor with the exception of his own brother, which happens to be his last living family member. While at home Victor finally sees what life is about and earnestly seeks to find what his purpose is with a renewed passion than ever before.
I’ve watched a lot of Christian films and this one offers a realness that you don’t often find. The storyline was well played out with great characters that were believable in what they were saying. Like a single mom who recently lost her job and isn’t sure how to feed her two children and how people struggle in life with jobs and addictions.
And then there is the family friend, Pop, who is the most lovable character who oozes with joy about his own life as the owner of this trailer park community called The Commons. He shows love in his actions towards Victor and encourages him in his search to find his life purpose. Pop speaks life into this young man who needs to hear the truth at a critical time. Other characters also start praying to the Lord unlike they have done in the past.
Victor gets a second chance at love as well as a direction on his life that helps him utilize the gifts that God has given him. This is a film that people from the struggling addict who struggles with faith to the devoted Christ follower can relate to. It’s an encouraging look at the rawness of faith and our journey to find our purpose.
