Where I live it’s spring cleanup for the city. That means you can put things you do not want on your curb and the city will come pick it up for free. I think it is a great idea and encourages getting rid of things you no longer need.
However, this week I noticed what my neighbors are putting out for pickup. Actually, I noticed how they have hidden what they are putting out for spring pickup.
I live on a great family oriented and extremely safe dead end street. I have always felt very safe especially with all the retirees and stay at home Moms that live nearby. I noticed that my neighbors have neatly put their things on the curb all in perfect boxes and they are all taped up. They are even stacked perfectly.
So that got me thinking do I present myself like this?
How about you? Do you present yourself like this to the world in the midst of a storm? We all know we have weaknesses and things in our life we may not be proud of but do you hide it from the ones closest to you?
I have found a fair amount of people I thought I was fairly close to doing this very thing. We go to church and look our best but are we willing to show the worst of ourselves to the ones we hold the closest. We all know we have junk in our lives that we need to get rid of and it does not make us any less of a Christian if we share this junk with others.
God surely uses us to minister to the lost and broken in our greatest pains and surely He will do the same as we show our transparency to our fellow brothers and sisters in Christ.
Even if you have a problem trusting others surely you can trust God to use your trash as a tool of ministry. When we submit ourselves to the Lord He becomes our shield of safety and we have no reason to fear what others may think of us.
Our focus is on our Fathers Kingdom and to glorify Him in all we do.
“Trust in the Lord and do good; dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture. -Psalm 37:3
