This subject has been on my mind a lot. Lately I have been studying Old Testament Characters. When we think about the Old Testament I think many of us think it is full of God’s wrath and that He is not the loving God we see in the New Testament. However, we haven’t been looking close enough.
For starters, let’s start by looking at the life of Moses. Moses had a premedidated life from the time his was born up until his death. As an Adult, Moses had this big fear. That fear was public speaking. It was so bad that Moses went to God and begged for Him to pick someone else. Moses just couldn’t do the job because he felt he couldn’t be eloquent enough to speak for God.
THe scripture said God burns with anger but that He chooses Moses brother, Aaron, to speak for Moses. So we can clearly see even when biblical men questioned their own ability God provided something or someone that would help them to deliver the Lords’ will.
Next we have Samson. Samson was also raised up knowing the right thing to do. He also choose to live in the flesh when it came to enjoying his time with other women. God gave Samson a great human strength but also told him he is to obstain from strong drink.
His life was full of disobedient choices but God still chose to use Samson to prove to others that God is the ultimately authority.
As if you needed further proof there is Queen Esther.
