As we celebrate freedom here on the 4th of July in America we have to remember not all countries have this celebration. In fact some will never be able to celebrate like we do.
The most important question I’d like to pose to you is what is freedom?
When our country became a free country we were not obligated to be apart of another country in any way, that is the day we celebrate. This freedom did not come without a cost, in fact our founding fathers made many sacrifices in their own life so that future generations would be able to enjoy this freedom.
As Americans we sometimes forget the price of freedom that our founding fathers made. They took enormous risks in order to be free from the reins that were holding them back previously. But one thing will always remain no matter where you look in this time in history. And that is the foundation that the United States of America was built on was GOD. Yet currently it is the one thing that is separating our great nation.
Many will call this country the land of the free but want to change these foundations that our great nation was founded on. If people try to change the reason why our great country was formed it will crumble. And that is how you must look at your freedom. Freedom doesn’t mean anything if you don’t realize what the foundations of that freedom are.
So why are you free? Why can you claim you are a free person? What if these constitutional freedoms were stripped away from us as a country and as individuals. Then what is left of us? Can we still claim that we are a free people, a free nation?
We would just be people in a land. A land with no boundaries.
You may think I am wrong here and think that this will never happen. Well brothers and sisters, I am here to tell you that it can happen. We are not safe from any government that won’t take away these rights if they feel we are “too” free. In reality, it’s about the government’s perception of the people who have control and not the other way around.
So if you are ever faced with this situation I want you to be ready to know where will your freedom lie? Where will your hope be? All these years we have relied on the government to steer us into the right direction but that won’t be the case here. I am not against our government I just simply want you to evaluate the cost of freedom and what it means to have it.
So I am giving you a scenario to seriously consider. Even if you think that I am crazy and the above mentioned freedom rights won’t be taken away from you. I’m asking you to think about where your hope comes from? If a government has taken away your freedom what is holding you together? Because if you aren’t free then you are a slave to someone.
The good news is even if you somehow find yourselves as slaves without freedom of any kind there is hope. This hope is only found in Jesus Christ and he is the truest hope you will ever find. He gives you freedom! Freedom that can never be taken away because God is the King and made you for this freedom and hope. He has placed his seal on his decision and that will never be rescinded.
Your names have been etched on stone in the lambs book never to be erased.
So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed. -John 8:36
